Coming from Central America, Tania and Sergio wanted to not only explore the beautiful city of San Francisco, but they also wanted to take photos to commemorate their growing family– some maternity photos! This day was full of so much fun, adventure, and love as we toured around the city. We ate hot dogs over looking the Golden Gate, drove the windy roads to Muir Woods, and reveled in the height of the redwood glory. We also took in the beautiful mastery and craftsmanship of the Palace of Fine Arts, and walked along the ocean at Baker Beach.
The Palace of Fine Arts is known for it’s robust structure of concrete and surrounding pillars, with an encompassing lagoon. Constructed in 1915, this gorgeous building draws crowds, as it resembles that of the ruins of Ancient Rome. Tania, Sergio, and I thoroughly enjoyed our time, walking around the buildings, finding really neat and unique spots to photograph their love. Although this site tends to attract tourists, we were still able to enjoy many locations without interference for short periods of time.
Baker Beach features a stunning view of the Golden Gate Bride, potentially SF’s most iconic structure. However, this beach might be popular for another reason — it’s been coined one of the only nude beaches on the California coastline. Tourists are often frequented with sightings of nude or partially nude sunbathers. (so be aware if you’re bringing your family!) This beach stretches 1/2 mile, and is relatively accessible, requiring only a short minute or two walk from the parking lot. Sergio and Tania enjoyed walking along the soft sands of this beach, and luckily, the view of the Bridge was not covered by fog. (A common occurrence!)
Muir Woods is a GEM. Just a short jaunt across the Golden Gate Bridge and a windy road later, and you’re there! But in all seriousness, if you get carsick, you might wanna pop a Dramamine. Muir Woods is a National Monument, named after the instrumental John Muir. It features 240 acres of old coastal redwood growth. It’s truly incredible to witness these trees, towering over you, in person. Tania and Sergio were in awe, as they walked along the paths. This was such a beautiful location to capture growth – how fitting.
